BTN Candidate Profile: Rodney McMillin/Butler County Jailer

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank Butler County for the support I have been shown in the past 10 months.  Campaigning and running for office isn't for the weak.

My name is Rodney McMillin and I am running for the office of Butler County Jailer.  I am humbled to have met so many wonderful citizens along this journey. If we haven't met yet, me and my wife, Tara Fugate McMillin, have raised our two sons here in Butler County.

Leevi is a Kentucky State Trooper. He and his wife, Amber, blessed us with our grandchildren, Landry and Layne. Our son, Lawsen is a Service Technician for Premier

Ag Supply. He is a supporter of poultry growth, cattle producers and all farmers. Lawsen and his wife, Kaitlynn, just married this April. I am proud of the boys we raised and want to ensure the safest environment for their families growing up right here in our county.

I have been vocal about my qualifications, experience and goals for the Butler County Jail. From being a Veteran to a Police Officer, I have loved serving. In addition to my

experience, I have outlined what I have established as goals for my first 12 months in office. It ranges from focusing on the safety of the inmates and staff, advanced deputy training, rehabilitation for the inmates, promoting positive emotional transitions for those incarcerated and establishing internal growth by classroom and therapy sessions. I do want to focus on parental development for those that qualify as well as elevate moral reasoning and decision-making skills.  I understand there will be those inmates that aren't suitable for the classroom and that will be locked down. I do want to provide schedules and routine as they await sentencing or transferring to other facilities.

In closing, I love the people of Butler County, and I think we all deserve a healthy place to live and grow. I ask that you give me that opportunity by placing your vote and giving me your support on May 19th. I am very grateful for each of you that have stood behind me."
