Butler County High School FFA Greenhouse Event Raises Funds for Local Program

Students from the Butler County High School FFA hosted a special greenhouse event this weekend to raise money for the local FFA program. The effort, led in part by Carlee Locke, highlighted the students’ hard work and dedication throughout the school year.

This marks the first school year the greenhouse has been open year-round, giving students more opportunities to grow and care for a wide variety of plants. Members of the greenhouse class not only raised the plants themselves but also hand-designed many of them into decorative pots for sale.

More than 15 vendors set up at the greenhouse, offering additional plants and items for visitors. Photos from the event showcased the variety available and the strong support from community members who came out to browse and purchase.

A planned car show that was scheduled alongside the event was canceled due to rain, but organizers remained focused on the main goal—selling plants and supporting the FFA program. Despite the weather, the event still highlighted the greenhouse project and its future potential.

Organizers hope to sell all of the plants and continue growing the program. The long-term goal is to add another greenhouse, expanding opportunities for students and increasing fundraising.

The greenhouse will remain open Monday through Friday during school hours for the remainder of the year. Also open on Saturdays until Mother’s Day weekend.  Community members are encouraged to stop by, support the students, and check out the plants grown and designed by the greenhouse class.

The project not only raises funds but also provides students with hands-on experience in plant care, design, and entrepreneurship—skills they will carry with them beyond the classroom.
