Clerk presents final settlement for 2025; presents check to court

Butler County Fiscal Court met on Monday, February 23, at the courthouse. All magistrates were in attendance: Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Allen Smith, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Bryant. Judge/Executive Tim Flener called the meeting to order, and the minutes from February 9 were approved.

Butler County Clerk Sherry Johnson presented the final settlement for 2025 (01/01-2025-02/23/2026):

-Total Income: $7,942,332.47

-Total Expenses: $7,608,240.86

-Net Income: $334,091.61

Johnson presented  a check to the fiscal court.

Laura Crafton, Lori Martin, and Lee Ann Daugherty, representing the Butler County Retired Teachers, explained to the court that they were applying for an AARP Grant for the Butler County Senior Center.  They would like to partner with other civic organizations to improve the Center's entrance with raised gardens, a mural, and seating. The court gave them permission to enhance the entrance if they received the grant.

Justin Poland introduced himself as a representative for Andy Barr.  He is helping the congressman’s U.S. Senate campaign.  He offered to assist with local matters and bring their concerns to Barr.

Dave Paul from Air Evac presented a program to the court concerning memberships and plans for individuals and businesses in the county.  He stressed the importance of having the service and the cost of an air lift without the program.

Tyler Hopkins spoke about the work he is doing in Butler County for BRADD.  The emergency plans are important for the county in order to qualify for FEMA assistance and other federal programs.

The court accepted a motion to remove 0.12 miles of Belcher Road from county maintenance.  Judge Tim Flener set a hearing for March 23, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at the Butler County Courthouse.  He also appointed Magistrates Allen Smith and David Whittinghill to review the road in accordance with county policies and procedures.


The court approved the following additional items:

-Green River and Lock 5 Road-final deed

-Renewal of Angie Pendley’s bond $646.43

-Fifth District VFD Treasurer's Report

-Treasurer’s monthly report

-Transfer of $10,000 from the general fund to the E911 fund

-Transfer of $35,000 from the general fund to the Jail Fund

-Bills and transfers
