Morgantown Little Learners Childcare
Mon, 01/19/2026 - 3:23pm — Amber McIntosh
The need for safe, quality childcare is a struggle many working families face. While there are some great options in our area, there aren't enough facilities to meet the ever-growing need.

Faced with this dilemma herself, Lydia Jenkins decided to open Morgantown Little Learners Childcare. As a mother and educator, she realized firsthand the need to provide more options in our county.

Assisting her in this endeavor will be Jordan Moore, who will serve as the center’s director.
“Our vision is to create a warm and welcoming environment where children feel valued and excited to learn. We know there is a local need for high-quality childcare, and Little Learners is committed to being part of the solution for working families in Morgantown,” stated Lydia Jenkins, owner.
The tentative opening date is late spring of 2026, and the center will accept children aged 6 weeks to 5 years and offer afterschool care for elementary-aged students. The center will employ trained early childhood professionals in every room, provide research-based curriculum that supports kindergarten readiness, and participate in the CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program), ensuring balanced meals for the students.
The center will be in the old Fred’s Pharmacy building across from the Morgantown Post Office, located at 211 South Main Street. As the opening date approaches, additional information will be shared about tuition rates and parent informational meetings, according to Murphy.
