BCHS FOOTBALL: A Season in Review
The 2025 Butler County Bears wrapped up their football campaign with a 3–7 record,
completing a full 10-game schedule that showed moments of promise and grit. The Bears totaled 204 points and allowed 290, playing hard through a season of ups and downs and competitive battles across region 1 of Class 3A.
Offensive Leaders
The Bears’ offense found success through a mix of ground and air production, finishing with 1,703 rushing yards and 1,266 passing yards.
Quarterback – Brody Dockery (Fr.)
Dockery started all 10 games, completing 97 of 187 passes for 1,266 yards, 16 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. In his first varsity season, he learned that the speed of varsity football is fast and that quick reads and improved accuracy will be key areas of focus. Correcting the interception total will be a major off-season priority as Dockery works to develop decision-making and timing at the next level.
Running Backs – Kaiden Richardson (So.) & Kevin Robins (Jr.)
The rushing attack remained consistent throughout the year. Richardson led the ground game with 136 carries for 880 yards and 6 touchdowns, averaging 88 yards per game.
Robins followed with 89 carries for 594 yards and 6 touchdowns, providing steady
power and production.
Receivers – Carson Davis (Jr.) & Cainan Vincent (Jr.)
In his first football season, Carson Davis, a standout two-sport athlete who also plays
basketball, quickly became the top target with 27 receptions for 509 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Cainan Vincent added 24 receptions for 363 yards and 5 scores, while Kevin Robins
contributed 12 receptions for 147 yards and 2 touchdowns to round out a balanced receiving group.
Scoring & Special Teams
The Bears averaged 20.4 points per game over the season. Kaiden Richardson led the team in scoring with 58 points. Kevin Robins totaled 50, followed by Carson Davis with 42, and Cainan Vincent with 30.
Kicker Jonathan Portillo (Jr.) went 9-for-11 on extra points and 1-for-2 on field goals, adding dependable special-teams production.
Special Teams Impact
All punting duties were handled by Senior Will Amos, whose consistency helped the Bears in the field-position battle. Portillo managed both field goals and PATs with reliability. Both Amos and Portillo will be missed, and replacements must be found to secure the kicking game for
Defensive Standouts
The defense compiled 601 total tackles, 42 tackles for loss, and 7 sacks. The group showed effort and physicality but must improve tackling fundamentals and pursuit to limit explosive plays.
Defensive Leader – Kevin Robins (Jr.)
Robins anchored the defense with 117 total tackles, including 14.5 tackles for loss and 1 sack.
Additional Key Defenders:
-Brock Henderson (So.) – 63 tackles, 4.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks
-Clay Steff (Sr.) – 61 tackles
-Christian White (Sr.) – 53 tackles, 3 sacks
-Will Amos (Sr.) – 44 tackles
The defense forced 15 fumbles, recovering 13, with Henderson, Robins, Steff, Cardwell, and Johnson making multiple key plays.
The Bears also recorded three interceptions:
-Clay Steff (Sr.) – 30-yard return
-Clayton Cardwell (So.) – 56-yard return
-Kaiden Richardson (So.) – 46-yard return for a touchdown
Senior Leadership
The 2025 senior class was the steady hand guiding the team through the year. Will Amos, Benjamin Clark, Jett Johnson, Clay Steff, Zander Stokes, Cayden Taylor, and Christian White each provided leadership, toughness, and accountability. Their influence extended beyond game nights — setting the tone in practice, helping younger teammates, and representing Butler County Football with pride. Their contribution leaves a lasting example for future Bears to follow.
The 2025 season highlighted key areas in need of growth. While several players stood out statistically, the team struggled with consistency week to week. Heading into the
off-season, Butler County’s focus will turn to speed development, tackling fundamentals,
quarterback growth, and special-teams stability. Addressing those areas will be essential to transforming close losses into victories in 2026.
