Bears fall to Adair County in final district game
COLUMBIA — Butler County couldn't overcome a slow start as Adair County won 35-14 in a Class 3A, District 2 game on Friday, Oct. 24.
Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 3-6 overall and finished 0-5 in Class 3A, District 2.
Adair County scored first and never trailed. The Indians led 14-0 at the conclusion of the opening quarter.
In control midway through the matchup, Adair County led 21-0 at halftime.
Prior to suffering the loss, Butler County matched Adair County in scoring (14-14) during the second half.
Butler County rushed 41 times for 177 yards and one touchdown. Kaiden Richardson paced Butler County, rushing 24 times for 101 yards and one touchdown.
Following Richardson in Butler County's rushing attack, Kevin Robins took 11 carries for 55 yards.
Through the air for Butler County, quarterback Brody Dockery completed five passes for 60 yards and one touchdown. Cainan Vincent emerged as Butler County's leading receiver, finishing with four receptions for 54 yards and one touchdown.
Kicker Jonathan Portillo paced Butler County on special teams, making each of his extra point kick attempts.
Defensively for Butler County, Robins recorded a team-high 11 tackles and two tackles for losses.
Butler County is scheduled to host non-district opponent Russellville for its final game in the 2025 high school football season on Friday, Oct. 31.
