BCHS Girls' soccer wraps up 2025 season

The 2025 Butler County High School Girls Varsity Soccer team wrapped up its season this week, following a hard-fought first-round loss in the 11th District Tournament. Although the season ended sooner than hoped, the Lady Bears demonstrated grit and flashes of promise throughout a challenging campaign.

Finishing with a 2-15 record, the team scored 16 GOALS and allowed 106. While the numbers tell one part of the story, the determination and development shown by the team, especially among its stat leaders, is where the real progress was made.

OFFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS

LOREE DAVIDSON (11, SR.) was the clear offensive standout, leading the team with 12 GOALS, 1 ASSIST, and 25 TOTAL POINTS, accounting for over 75% of Butler County’s scoring. Her performance this season sets the standard for future attackers.

Supporting the attack, MARIA GREGORIO (16, JR.) added 2 GOALS and 1 ASSIST, finishing second on the team in total points with 5.

In limited action, SERAFINA HEIDEN (25, JR.) contributed 1 GOAL and led the team in assists with 2, showing promise in the midfield and setting up key plays when on the field.

TATIANA FLORES (#2, FR.), a first-year player, made her mark with a team-high 3 ASSISTS, showing strong playmaking instincts and establishing herself as a rising contributor for future seasons.

DEFENSIVE STANDOUT

In goal, CARME MENDOZA (0, FR.) shouldered the lion’s share of defensive duties. She recorded an impressive 205 SAVES in 17 games — an average of 12.1 SAVES PER GAME — while facing relentless pressure. Despite giving up 98 GOALS, her poise and performance as a freshman goalkeeper were among the most notable bright spots of the season.

LOOKING AHEAD

As the 2025 season closes, the Lady Bears will graduate key contributors, most notably LOREE DAVIDSON, whose scoring presence will be greatly missed. However, with returning talent like MARIA GREGORIO, TATIANA FLORES, and CARME MENDOZA, the building blocks for future success are already in place.

AND SO, THE 2025 BUTLER COUNTY GIRLS VARSITY SOCCER SEASON COMES TO AN END. While the road was challenging, the experience gained and leadership demonstrated have paved the way for a stronger, more seasoned team in 2026.
