BCMS Baseball Camp 2025

A total of 24 young baseball players battled the hot weather, high humidity, and a little rain last week to participate in the first-ever baseball camp hosted by the Butler County Middle School program.  The event was moved to the Charles Black City Park due to field conditions.

Campers ages 7-12 received instruction about the fundamentals of baseball, including hitting, bunting, base running, sliding, throwing, defensive mechanics, and an introduction to pitching and catching.

Several middle school baseball players worked at the camp to provide instruction and learning opportunities for younger players and multiple parents assisted with supervision, hydration, lunches, and other areas as needed.

"We were excited to host a summer camp for younger players and pleased with the turnout, especially with this being our first one," said BCMS head baseball coach John Embry.  "The campers received quality instruction regarding all parts of baseball fundamentals and participated in a variety of drills to reinforce the importance of doing things the right way.  It was a great week of baseball and I really appreciate all the help from middle school players and their parents."

With the success of this year's camp, BCMS Baseball plans to offer another camp next summer, as well as possibly some skills clinics later in the fall.
