GRCF Car Show

 Saturday, July 5, the GRCF Car Show was held from 10:00 to 2:00 at the Eva J. Hawes Building.  Michael Capps corrdinated the event with the help of his friends and family.

 
Chrome glistened and engines revved as car lovers from all around the community gathered to show off their rides and swap stories. A total of 77 vehicles were registered and proudly displayed, ranging from tiny POWER wHEELS TO MASSIVE SEMI-TRUCKS.  Car fans of all ages are drawn together.

The show wasn't just about cars. Guests could grab lunch at local food trucks, browse vendor booths, and pick up homemade products while strolling through the lot. This event provided an opportunity for neighbors to connect, share memories, and celebrate their shared passion for horsepower and craftsmanship.

"Picking these winners was a difficult decision, to say the least"- Judges of the GCRF Car Show. Nine different categories were being judged, including Jeeps, Rat Rods, Power Wheels, Semis, Tow Trucks, Motorcycles, Cars, Trucks, Kids' Choice, and an overall winner. All winners, except Rat Rods, were awarded a trophy made by Hometown Trophy. Rat Rod winners received homemade trophies crafted from car parts.

 

 

Jeeps: 1st- Felicia Summers, 2nd- Jim Szilagyi, 3rd- Dennis Hunt.

Semis: 1st- Russell Childress, 2nd- Brandon Tomes, 3rd- Josh Tichenor.

Tow Trucks: 1st- Clifton Parsley, 2nd- Clifton Parsley, 3rd- Russell Childress.

Cars: 1st- Chris Sanders, 2nd- Ray Havens, 3rd- Wade Grayson.

Trucks: 1st- Mike Camplin, 2nd- Brandon Embry, 3rd- Leonard Pendley.

Motorcycles: 1st- Rick Jones, 2nd- Rich Norris. Power Wheels: 1st- Hadley Embry, 2nd- Maddox Summers.

RatRods: 1st- Russell Childress 2nd- Jason Flener. Kids Choice: Jeff Oberhausen.

Overall Winner: Randy Arnold.

 

 

Power Wheel Winner: Hadley Embry

 

A highlight of the show was Russel Childress. He entered three impressive vehicles. Each of his entries turned heads in the community, but especially the judges. He entered a Semi-Truck, a Tow Truck, and a Rat Rod; all of which took home a trophy. His collection drew plenty of attention from visitors eager to snap pictures and hear the story behind each one.

When the last car rolled out, everyone was left with a smile on their face. Some went with a newfound passion, while others brought a new trophy to add to their collection. This event brought the community together for a day of good company, good food, and a shared love.
