MPD: Shoplifting Arrest Leds to Possession Charge

On July 4, Morgantown Police officers were dispatched to the Dollar General locate on Parkway Lane for a shoplifting complaint.

Upon arrival, the subject had already walked away on foot. Officers made contact with the suspect, Wanda Clauson of Morgantown, on S. Main St. Clauson, agreed to hand over the rest of the stolen items that she had stored in a hotel room at Morgantown Inn. Some of the stolen items were recovered at the time of initial contact. Officers recovered a total of $70 worth of items. Clauson was arrested and transported to the Butler County Jail, where she was found to have a white pill that officers discovered was an unprescribed gabapentin.

Clauson was charged with the following:

TBUT shoplifting

Possession of a controlled substance 1st ( drug unspecified)

 

Unit 127 L.Mooneyhan, Arresting officer. Unit 125 T. Whittaker assisted the officer.
