BCHS Band prepares for upcoming season

The Butler County High School band began preparations for their upcoming show, Fire, by participating in band camp this week. Band director Jason Ausbrooks, along with former band members and guest instructors, will work with over 120 members of band during the two week event. Students will spend seven and a half hours each day furthering their band skills as well as learning the new show for the upcoming season.

Lunch time!

"I would like to thank all of the parents," said Ausbrooks, "There's no way that we could do this without their support."

A pool party for all band camp participants will be held on Saturday, July 21 from 8 pm to 10 pm at the Morgantown City Pool.

The band is set to play at all home football games this season, with the exception of fall break.

The band will be competing in shows on the following dates: August 25th, September 8th, September 15th (home show), September 22nd, September 29th, October 13th, October 20th (KMEA Regionals), October 27th (KMEA State).

I love our band kids! There is not a better group of kids in BC! I am looking forward to a great band season this year. Butler County fans should be very proud as our band is the largest 2A band in the state for the second year in a row! Not many schools can brag that 1/5th of their students are in band. Thanks to Mr. A for providing a wonderful band experience for my son. Trent is a SENIOR!
I love the Band as well and all the students. I had 3 children go through Band and even though my last one graduated last year, I still want to be involved. It's just something about the Band that gets in your system and you don't won't to give it up. I believe with all my heart that students who are in extracurricular activities, such as the Band, etc. are less likely to become involved serious trouble. They have to be dedicated to all the practices, shows and other involvements and they just don't have the extra time to wander astray. I know Band was a very important part of my 3 children's lives and they have so many wonderful memories and friends from that experience. Music, in my opinion, makes for a very well rounded individual. I appreciate Mr. Ausbrooks and all the time he devotes to the students and as well to all the other directors that we had during our 17 years of Band. My daughter and oldest son just loved Mr. Larry Moore who was their director for awhile, as well as Mr. Dockery and Mr. McCllean. I am VERY PROUD of our Band at Butler County.
Also, let's don't forget the Band Director who started the Band here in Butler County. Even though he is no longer with us he was an inspiration.
