A Morgantown retail institution, after decades in business, now has new owners. Recently, Elijah and Payton Flener purchased Garrison’s Department Store from long-time owners, Walter and Rosemary Garrison. 

No strangers to running a small business, the Fleners are also owners of Hebrews 12 Coffee Shop. 

These young entrepreneurs hope to add new items and create an online shopping experience, while maintaining the same hometown feel and providing high quality items just as the Garrison’s did. 

Phoenix and Eleanor are also excited.

“It is an absolute honor for our family to carry on the legacy that Walter and Rosemary have brought to our community- one we don’t take lightly," said Payton Flener. "While we realize we have big shoes to fill, we look forward to serving our community… and we made them promise they wouldn’t be strangers while they enjoyed retirement.”

In a recent Facebook post, Rosemary and Walter Garrison expressed their gratitude to their customers and the community for their support over the years. 

“We would like to thank all of our loyal customers from over the last 68 years. We could not have stayed in business without your support and patronage through these years. Serving you has been an honor!” 

As always Grarrison's has quality brands like Carhart, Levi's, Red Wing, Double H, Wrangler and Liberty.

Garrison's Department Store, under the Fleners, will be open 1o a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 1o a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
