Bears Win, Lady Bears Fall Against Grayson
Bears claim district win over Cougars

MORGANTOWN — Butler County pulled away to defeat Grayson County 78-62 in a 12th District boys' basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 8.
Following the win, Butler County improved to 13-12 overall and 4-1 in the 12th District.
Grayson County edged Butler County 18-16 in the opening quarter.
However, Grayson County and Butler County were tied 31-31 at halftime.
Butler County managed to produce more frequently on the offensive end while delivering defensive stops during the second half. The Bears excelled after the break, exiting the third quarter ahead 56-44.
Ty Price paced Butler County, scoring 25 points for the Bears.

Joining Price in double figures for Butler County, Justin Castlen scored 24 points and Briar Griffin netted 16 points. Senior Justin Castlen went over 1,000 points during the game. His career total now stands at 1,008.
Narrowly missing double figures for Butler County, Trever Deweese scored nine points.
Rounding out Butler County's scoring, Case Hooten and Nicholas Francisco added two points apiece for the Bears.
Butler County is scheduled to visit Madisonville-North Hopkins for its next game at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10.
Lady Bears fall to Grayson County in district game
MORGANTOWN — Butler County came up short as Grayson County prevailed 54-47 in a 12th District girls' basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 8.
Following the loss, Butler County slipped to 9-12 overall and 2-3 in the 12th District.
Butler County and Grayson County were tied 7-7 at the conclusion of the first quarter.
But Grayson County managed to enter halftime ahead 18-17.
After extending its lead, Grayson County exited the third quarter out in front 36-28.

Ava Wilson paced Butler County, scoring 21 points for the Lady Bears.

Accompanying Wilson in double figures for Butler County, Carley Cardwell scored 13 points.
Finishing near double figures for Butler County, Ann Marie Skaggs netted eight points.
Rounding out Butler County's scoring, Bailey Moore added three points and Karrington Hunt contributed two points.
Butler County is scheduled to host Ohio County for its next game at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
