SOFTBALL: Willoughby commits to Ohio State

BOWLING GREEN — Former Butler County High School student-athlete Parker Willoughby has verbally committed to the tradition-rich Ohio State University softball program.

Among the top high school softball players in the nation, Willoughby, a junior third baseman/catcher/utility player, excelled throughout the first half of her prep career.

Following a transfer from Butler County High School, Willoughby is headed into her junior campaign at state title contender South Warren High School.

"My recruiting process was amazing," said Willoughby.  "I was blessed with a lot of great opportunities, but ultimately chose Ohio State."

Recruited by several schools, Willoughby says her decision to attend Ohio State was due to several factors.

"The atmosphere and facilities were unbelievable. But, the coaching staff was a major factor in my decision. Their coaching style is similar to what I am used to and I loved being around all of them," said Willoughby.  "I am so blessed to have this opportunity and I can’t wait for what’s to come in the future."

As a sophomore at Butler County High School earlier in the year, Willoughby batted .505 with 51 hits, 20 RBIs, 14 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run and 47 runs in 30 games.

Willoughby earned numerous honors and accolades during the first half of her prep career.

A native of Butler County, Willoughby is poised to take the field for reigning 4th Region champion South Warren in the 2025 high school softball season.

The Ohio State University softball program competes in the Big Ten Conference.

Parker is the daughter of Travis and Ashley Willoughby.
