Bears fall to Mustangs in home match
MORGANTOWN — Butler County found the net on multiple possessions but couldn't limit its opponent as Muhlenberg County pulled away to win 5-2 in a boys' high school soccer match on Monday, Sept. 16.
Following the loss, Butler County fell to 5-6-1.
After registering the win, Muhlenberg County improved to 5-5-1.
The Bears and Mustangs compete in bordering districts.
Lincoln Drury scored four goals to lead Muhlenberg County to the win.
Accompanying Drury in Muhlenberg County's scoring column, Josiah Ball netted one goal for the Mustangs.
Aiding Muhlenberg County's offensive attack, Brock Guffy distributed three assists.
Chipping in offensively, Ball and Conner Slaughter each dealt out one assist for the Mustangs.
Goalkeeper Carter Knowles paced Muhlenberg County defensively, tallying seven saves while holding Butler County to two goals.
Jonathan Portillo and Eliazar Cordona each netted one goal for the Bears.
Defensively for Butler County, goalkeeper Landon Beatty recorded 16 saves while allowing five goals.
Butler County is scheduled to host Edmonson County for an 11th District boys' soccer match on Monday, Sept. 23.
Bears outlast Allen County-Scottsville 3-2
SCOTTSVILLE — Butler County outlasted Allen County-Scottsville 3-2 in a boys' high school soccer match on Monday, Sept. 9.
Recording a hat trick, Jonathan Portillo scored three goals to lead Butler County to the win.
Goalkeeper Landon Beatty paced Butler County defensively, limiting Allen County-Scottsville to two goals and tallying 16 saves.
Butler County 2, Hart County 2: Butler County and Hart County battled to a 2-2 tie in a boys' high school soccer match in Munfordville on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
Kevin Mendoza and Jonathan Portillo scored one goal apiece for the Bears.
Defensively, goalkeeper Landon Beatty recorded 15 saves for Butler County in the tie.
Bears beat Logan County 7-4
MORGANTOWN — Returning to the win column, Butler County beat Logan County 7-4 in a boys' high school soccer match on Thursday, Aug. 29.
Butler County improved to 4-3 after notching the win.
Delivering a hat trick, Jonathan Portillo scored three goals to lead Butler County to the win.
Directly behind Portillo in Butler County's scoring column, Kevin Mendoza netted two goals.
Aiding Butler County offensively, Eliazar Cordona and Braden McKinney added one goal apiece.
Goalkeeper Landon Beatty paced Butler County defensively, posting 15 saves while allowing four goals.
Foundation Christian Academy 4, Butler County 1: Butler County was limited offensively as Foundation Christian Academy pulled away to win 4-1 in a boys' high school soccer match on Tuesday, Aug. 27.
