Court approves annual bids; districts to receive Flex Fund money for roads

Butler County Fiscal Court met at the courthouse on Monday, June 10. All magistrates attended - Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Allen Smith, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Bryant - attended the meeting.

The court went straight into new business, with no old business on the agenda. This year, the Flex Fund money for roads will go to the Fourth and Fifth districts. Each district will receive $104,000, and Judge/Executive Tim Flener asked magistrates to let him know which roads they wanted resurfaced.

Next, the court approved 2024-25 Annual Bids:

--Contech- metal and plastic tile

--Drakes Farm Service- plastic tile

--Asphalt Materials- chip and seal

--Scotty's -RMA, asphalt and bituminous concrete

--Caneyville Crushed Stone-gravel

--Martin Marietta-gravel

The court approved the $7,500 monthly Animal Shelter Contract with the Friends of Butler County Animals. The court also asked a representative from the shelter to attend the fiscal court meetings and give an update at least once per month.

Magistrates appointed Diane Dyer and Dale Willis to the Tourism Committee.

The court approved the changing of Hood Road to E.E. Hood Road. A hearing was held before the meeting, and no opposition was heard.

The court approved the following additional items:

--$2,000 donation to Green River Museum

--hiring of Randall Gaskey at $15 per hour to spray for mosquitos

--transfer $35,000 from the General Fund to the Jail Fund

--bills and transfers
