Butler County finishes runner-up in 12th District

LEITCHFIELD — Butler County finished runner-up in the 12th District Softball Tournament.

Edmonson County battled back from behind to beat Butler County 16-15 in the 12th District Softball Tournament title game at Grayson County High School on Tuesday, May 21.

Excelling late, Edmonson County scored four runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning to notch the win.

Miley Franzell started in the circle for Butler County and took the loss. Franzell pitched five innings and struck out one Edmonson County batter.

Following Franzell, Mia Thomas pitched in relief for the Bears.

Butler County scored 15 runs on 13 hits. Thomas (two hits, four RBIs), Karrington Hunt (three hits, five RBIs), Parker Willoughby (three hits, three RBIs), Madison Jones (two hits), Addison Miller (two hits), Lydia Brown (one hit) and Madison Clark (one RBI) each produced offensively for the Bears. Both Thomas and Hunt homered for Butler County during the district tournament title game.

Both Edmonson County and Butler County advance to the 3rd Region Softball Tournament.

Butler County 3, Whitesville Trinity 2: Determined Butler County outlasted Whitesville Trinity 3-2 in the semifinals of the 12th District Softball Tournament at Grayson County High School on Monday, May 20.

The win allowed Butler County to advance to the 12th District Softball Tournament title game.

Miley Franzell pitched for Butler County and earned the win in the circle. Franzell recorded three strikeouts over seven innings.

Butler County scored three runs on two hits. Parker Willoughby (one hit, one RBI), Addison Miller (one hit) and Madison Clark (one RBI) accounted for Butler County's offense.
