Against The Grain by: Andy Sullivan/Theme Music to Life

Many different things shape our day.  From our choice of breakfast to what to wear-these and more affect our mood.  There is also the right kind of music for every mood. Most likely, we all listen to music every day.

That is the main reason I enjoy walking on the treadmill every morning-40 minutes of uninterrupted music on my iPod.  At least 99% of music I’ve loaded is up-tempo, as I just can’t do that stretch run to a ballad.  If a slower song does exist, it’s usually played during the 0-5 minute time.  The 3.5-4 mph is perfect for Flatt & Scruggs’ “Foggy Mountain Breakdown”.

Throughout the day, radio or CD’s get the job done. If you have an office job that lets you listen to the radio, that’s the perfect situation.  I usually leave it tuned to SAM 100.7 or WLBQ 1570.  When I work out on my Ab-Flex machine, I usually grab a CD of Queen, Los Lonely Boys, Santana or something similar.  I can’t exercise at all to country music, as much as I love it.  I’ll occasionally turn it on when typing, though.

Every now and then, I’ll put on my headphones before going to sleep and have some late-night tunes.  Also an option, and something I’ve done quite often since I got my Kindle, is listening to Pandora and iHeartRadio.  I find that music helps me get through the day.  It certainly helps me get things done.  I exercise, type, clean to music, as well as just listen for leisure.  I’m sure I’m not the only one who listens to music on a daily basis.
