Butler County Homemaker Quilt Showcase and Membership Drive Great Success

The Butler County Homemaker Quilt Showcase and Membership Drive, held on Saturday, October 16th, was a huge success!

Butler County Homemakers celebrated Kentucky Homemakers Week by showcasing over 50 beautiful quilts, many being hand stitched/hand quilted, and all having stories to tell.

Viewers were able to not only see these quilts on display but were also able to hear about the quilt memories, reminisce and learn about local ancestry, and learn more about membership and activities with the Butler County Homemakers.

“Not only were we able to showcase these beautiful quilts, but we were also able to bring generations and talent together.  Averi Morris, age 10, became a member of the Butler County Homemakers during our drive and will be joining her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother in carrying on such a wonderful and knowledgeable tradition.  It’s always wonderful to see our youth get so excited about becoming part of this organization,” Butler County FCS Agent Tracy Cowles said.  “She loved the quilts so much, that she planned a material trip to get started on her own quilt!”

For more information on joining and becoming active with Butler County Homemakers, contact the Butler Cooperative Extension Service at 102 Parkway Lane, Morgantown, KY or call 270-526-3767.
