Hot Rods Broadcaster Earns Promotion

Tom Gauthier Headed to Sister Team in New Hampshire

Bowling Green, KY – The Bowling Green Hot Rods, Class A Affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, are proud to announce that radio broadcaster Tom Gauthier has earned a ‘call-up’.  Starting November 1, he will serve as the new Director of Broadcast/Media Relations with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Class AA Affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays and Hot Rods’ sister club under ownership group DSF Sports.

“This is a bittersweet day for our team,” said Hot Rods President Brad Taylor.  “Tom has been here since day one, helping the Hot Rods grow while providing our fans with a professional, entertaining broadcast every night.  We hate to see him leave, but we are happy to see him move up the ladder within our own baseball company.”

A New Hampshire native, Gauthier is one of the longest-tenured employees of the Hot Rods, serving as Director of Broadcast/Media Relations since November of 2008.  In addition to providing play-by-play of Hot Rods baseball starting in April of 2009, he has worked to promote the team through the local media as well as community events and gatherings.  He was also an asset in corporate sponsorship and ticket sales, introducing businesses and groups to the fun and value of Hot Rods baseball.

“This is an exciting opportunity and I want to thank Art Solomon and our ownership group for the chance to go back home and continue my career with the Fisher Cats,” Gauthier said.  “I am truly blessed to have spent three great years in South Central Kentucky, building lasting friendships with our staff, fans, and folks in the Rays organization.  My wife and I will never forget how welcoming the people of Bowling Green have been to us.”

As he heads to New Hampshire, Gauthier will continue with many of the duties he performed in Bowling Green.  His return brings him back to the Class AA Eastern League where he began his baseball broadcasting career with the Portland Sea Dogs in 2008.  He also previously worked with New Hampshire, serving as an official scorer while occasionally providing fill-in play-by-play from 2005-2007.  He will call his first game for New Hampshire on April 5, 2012.

Gauthier will handle all media requests until Friday, October 21.  General Manager Ryan Gates will then serve as interim media contact.
