BC Rescue Squad receives grant for swift-water rescues

The Butler County Rescue recently received a $5,800 grant from Kentucky Emergency Management. They purchased four dry suits, six Class Five life vests, and one inflated boat. The boat can handle swift water rescue missions.

According to Brandon Keown, Rescue Chief, they worked with Emergency Management Director Charlie Tomes through the grant process.

"This is equipment that we needed due to the Green River and floodwaters," said Keown, who indicated that this equipment would be beneficial in swift water.

Judge-Executive Tim Flener, who spoke at the press event last week announcing the grant, praised the efforts local rescue volunteers, the value of the new equipment, and pledged his continued support of their efforts to help keep the communit safe.
