Bears notch district win over Edmonson County 

BROWNSVILLE - Claiming a 12th District win on the road, Butler County pulled away to beat host Edmonson County 59-47 on Friday, Jan. 31. 
Butler County shot 35.6 percent (21-of-59) from the field in the winning effort. The Bears were only 2-of-22 from 3-point range but fared better when shooting free throws. Butler County shot 68.2 percent (15-of-22) from the free throw line.
The Bears dominated inside, outrebounding Edmonson County 43-21.
Brody Hunt led Butler County with a team-high 14 points. Hunt was 5-of-5 from the free throw line.
Butler County used a balanced offensive effort which featured three scorers in double figures. Hayden Hodge netted 12 points for the Bears while Parker Rice added 11 points. 
Narrowly missing double figures in scoring for the Bears, Solomon Flener posted nine points.
Leevi McMillin and Jagger Henderson rounded out Butler County's individual scoring, chipping in eight points and five points, respectively.
Flener led Butler County inside, grabbing 11 rebounds. Rice reeled in nine rebounds for the Bears while McMillin claimed eight rebounds. 
Edmonson County shot 37.3 percent (19-of-51) from the field. The Wildcats were 3-of-15 (20 percent) from 3-point range.
Edmonson County shot 54.5 percent (6-of-11) from the free throw line. 
Dalton Decker poured in a game-high 25 points to lead the Wildcats. Decker was the only Edmonson County player to reach double figures in scoring. He was 6-of-9 from inside the arc.
The additional scorers for Edmonson County were Mason Pierce (six points), Chaz Wilson (five points), Gavin Rose (three points), Eli Booker (two points), Trent Taylor (two points), Jon Smith (two points) and Daniel Woosley (two points).
 
Butler County falls to Adair County 
 
COLUMBIA - Visiting Butler County fell behind and couldn't battle back as Adair County pulled away to win 75-60 in a boys' high school basketball game on Tuesday night.
Adair County shot 51 percent (26-of-51) from the field. The Indians were 2-of-13 from 3-point range.
Adair County shot 72.4 percent (21-of-29) from the free throw line. 
Owning an advantage around the goal, Adair County outrebounded Butler County 36-25.
Luke Janes led Adair County with a double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Janes was 9-of-12 from inside the arc. 
Accompanying Janes in double figures in scoring for the Indians, Lucas Pooler added 17 points and Brice Starks posted 13 points. 
The additional scorers for Adair County were Aaron Steele (eight points), Connor Loy (six points), Kai Burton (five points), DJ Brown (four points) and Clay Giles (one point). 
Butler County shot 32.7 percent (18-of-55) from the field. The Bears were 5-of-23 (21.7 percent) from 3-point range.
Butler County shot 73.1 percent (19-of-26) from the free throw line. 
Parker Rice paced Butler County, scoring 18 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Rice was 9-of-9 from the free throw line.
Accompanying Rice in double figures in scoring for the Bears, Jagger Henderson netted 13 points and Hayden Hodge added 10 points. Henderson was 4-of-5 from inside the arc.
Flirting with double figures for the Bears, Brody Hunt finished with nine points.
The additional scorers for Butler County were Zach Tutko (three points), Solomon Flener (three points), Isaac Dockery (three points) and Jonah Akers (one point).
