Commonwealth Cleanup Week a success

Butler County Solid Waste Coordinator and Enforcement Officer Mark Sorrels described the Commonwealth Cleanup Week held March 17-24 as a "huge success." Over 15 tons of garbage were collected and removed from the county during the week-long effort.

"The response from the county was tremendous," said Sorrels, "I really appreciate everyone coming out and doing what they can to help keep the county clean."

Eighteen dump trucks were used to haul the refuse from Butler County to a landfill in neighboring Ohio County. Collection sites were set up across the county during the cleanup week at the Rochester City Park, Morgantown City Park, 2nd District Fire Department, 4th District Fire Department, and 5th District Fire Department.

For more information about the disposal of waste, contact Sorrels at 526-3433.

I am very glad that this was successful, however I just wish the dumpsters were out during times that more people could participate. 9-3 was not very convenient for me. But again I am glad that it was successful.
