Butler County Area Technology Center's DECA takes the gold

Butler County High School/Area Technology Center has added on to the list of clubs with a new organization called DECA, which stands for Distributive Education Clubs of America.

DECA is currently a 5-member club but is growing rapidly.

On February 6, DECA members went to a regional conference. Three members attended the trip and all three took the Kentucky Free Enterprise Basics test, which consisted of 100 questions.

“The day was full of fun stories and meeting new people,” says Rayna Beller. “I learned so many new things like how to network, which means meeting new people and using them to help you get a job.”

Awards were presented at the end of the conference.

Rayna Beller took first place, Kayla Green took second, and Haylee Shedd took third.

“Everyone was so surprised and happy that we won all three places since this was our first conference,” said Kayla Green.

Haylee Shedd said, “The trip was fun and educational and a great way to end my senior year.”

According to those in attendance, DECA's first regional conference was a success for the Butler County High School Area Technology Center newest club.
