JoLynn Reed, better known to the students as Mrs. Reed, has been at Morgantown Elementary School for 27 years. She began teaching in October of 1991 as an early childhood teacher and Chapter 1 Reading.  In 1992 she moved to kindergarten where she spent the next 15 years in kindergarten, helping students to get off to a good start by building their educational foundation. 

In 2006 she became one of the counselors at MES where we can still find her today happy and loving every minute she shares with the students and staff.

One of her favorite parts of the day is welcoming students to school in the drop-off line (see photo above).

Mrs. Reed became a school counselor because of her desire to help others.  She wanted to continue to make a difference in the lives of her students beyond kindergarten.  She believes one of the biggest assets a school can have is school counselors to assist students with their personal and emotional well-being.  Mrs. Reed believes in letting her students know she loves them and cares about them every day. 

Mrs.  Reed would tell others if they want a position where you are ready to jump in and help at a moment’s notice, even if you are covered up with things to do yourself, then they would love being a school  counselor just as much as she does. Most of all being an elementary school counselor at MES brings the most joy when she is out and hears “HELLO MS. REED” from a current or former student. She enjoys those conversations and says they are her rewards for a job well done.
