Traffic Advisory

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to restrict traffic to one lane on the Wendell Ford-Western Kentucky Parkway at the Muhlenberg-Ohio County Line near the 65 mile marker starting today, March 19, 2012.

This lane restriction is to allow a detailed inspection of the Western Kentucky Parkway bridges over the Green River at mile point 65.675.  To facilitate this inspection work a Snooper Truck will be positioned on the bridge deck.

Initially, westbound traffic is being restricted to one lane from about 7:00 a.m. to about 6:00 p..m., CDT, each day.  Work is expected to shift to the eastbound bridge sometime Thursday.

Motorists should be alert for slowing and merging traffic as they approach the Green River Bridge.  Appropriate caution is required in this work zone where equipment and inspection personnel will be on the bridge deck in close proximity to traffic flow.

This work zone includes a reduced speed limit with an enhanced enforcement presence.

All Kentucky bridges get a detailed safety inspection every two years with long-span bridges getting additional inspections annually.

Michael Baker, Jr., Inc., is the contractor on this bridge inspection project.
