Andy Sullivan: Country Club comes to Bowling Green
Thursday night, August 16, I went to the SKYPAC in Bowling Green to see Travis Tritt perform. This was probably the longest timespan between me seeing a performer since Ray Stevens. I first saw Ray in ’92 before seeing him when he came to SKYPAC a few years ago. I first saw Travis at a WKU homecoming concert in, I believe it was 1993-94.
He sang hits spanning his 29 -year career. He also paid tribute to his friend, the late, great Waylon Jennings, by singing a few Waylon hits. He also covered the Hank Williams classic “Move It On Over”. One poignant moment was before singing and playing an acoustic version of his hit “Anymore”. He told of filming the video and premiering it at the VA hospital in Murfreesboro, TN. Travis said “there wasn’t a dry eye in the place” when the screening was over.
Travis’ keyboardist in the Country Club band is Jared Decker from Russellville. He was once keyboardist for the Rose band. Travis puts on a fantastic show! Everybody in attendance had a great time.
