Butler County Knitters and Crocheters - I look forward to the New Year with the reassurances of faith, hope and love.

The knitters and Crocheters finished the year with 193 hats, scarves, ear-warmers for the Child and Family Resource Center and just over 100 very, very cute Christmas hats for the newborns at the Medical Center. This is certainly a labor of love as we were working on things for our families as well.  Now we can catch up on prayer shawls for Andrea’s Mission, red hats for the newborns in February, and for me, trying out new Cubits (square) double point needles and lovely new Yak down yarn.  When we meet again January 8th we will get ready for our class in crocheting socks. This will take sock yarn (I have some I can sell very inexpensively) and an “e” hook. This will be a lot of fun.

For the knitters I will be making knit socks on double points if anyone needs help, and Sibyl can help with the magic loop method.

In November we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the beginning of this group.  Six or more of the original ladies are still here.  I think it has lasted so long because we are not a club, we are a group, and we combine fellowship with learning and giving.  Everyone of every skill level is welcome. We try lots of other things besides knitting and crocheting (Swedish embroidery, cross stitch gift tags, plastic canvas pocket prayer pockets, paper star folding, to name just a few). We don’t charge for the lessons and we are occasionally gifted with yarn, hooks and needles, which we greatly appreciate and share with anyone who needs them. The Butler County Library kindly provides the meeting room and a little space in the back for us to store a few things. We meet on Monday mornings at 11 am for about an hour.

We have been very blessed, and we continue to share the blessings.
