Bears Fall to Catholic 59-6
The Butler County Bears lost to district foe Owensboro Catholic Aces 59-6 last week on the road. The Bears on the season fall to (0-6) and (0-1) in district play.
The Bears defense on the opening drive held with a goal-line stand and forced Catholic to turn the ball over on downs with an incomplete pass on fourth down.

The Bears struggled to move the ball and were forced to punt on the first three possessions. The Catholic Aces got on the board with 5:24 in the first quarter of play, and again with 2:28 in the first to take a 13-0 lead. The Bears were keeping the game close, but in the second quarter of play the Aces would score five touchdowns to put the game away in the first half of play.

Butler County turned the ball over six times, giving the Aces excellent field position, a short field on each possession resulting in scores. At the half the score 46-0 Catholic, as both teams entered the locker rooms.
By KHSAA rule the running clock was in effect the remainder of the game. The Bears would get on the scoreboard late in the fourth quarter. A Gage Ward to Daltyn Havens touchdown pass netted fifty yards for the score. The final score 59-6 Aces.

Butler County returns home this week, being on the road for three weeks in a row. The Bears will take on the Hancock County Hornets at Home, Friday, September 29. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. This is also a district game and a sense of urgency is of the utmost for the Bears. The game will be aired live on WLBQ 101.5 FM with Cody Donaldson and Josh Scott.
Hancock County enters the game with a 3-2 record overall with wins over Grayson County, Webster County, and Todd County Central. The Hornets have a strong running attack, run the veer offense, and a 4-4 look on defense.

Friday night at halftime is Butler County Jr. Pro & BCMS 7/8th Football Recognition Night. The purpose is to recognize the future and youth of Butler County Football Program.
