Soldiers participating in an annual National event called ‘Carry the Fallen,' took a short break at Jim's New Life Taxidermy shop on Sandy Creek Road this evening. This walk for these Active Heroes started at Oak Grove War Memorial, just outside of Ft. Campbell on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at 7:00.  Some 140 miles of non-stop walking day and night, except breaks to eat, will end at Ft. Knox on Sunday evening around 3:00 p.m.  Vietnam War Veteran, Stasi Drakopulos, lead the team. His wife Judy, along with others, drove vehicles at the beginning and the end of the line for added safety.  Alarmingly, 22 Veterans a day commit suicide. (over 8,030 veterans a year take their lives.)  A very moving moment as Bro. Jim McIntosh thanked our Active Heroes for their service and had prayer with the group prior to them leaving.

Active Heroes is a Non-Profit organization and have great programs to reduce veteran suicide.  More information can be found at www.activeheroes.org.    There you can read more about them and give monetary donations.  For more information on the ‘Carry the Fallen Event’ – visit www.carrythefallen.org or find them on Facebook.
