BCMS Softball reaches mid-point of season; showing improvement, experiencing success on the field
With the beginning of September, the Butler County Middle School Bears' softball team has roughly a month of its season behind them and almost another month remaining before the season-ending Middle School State Tournament scheduled for September 30 - October 1 at Buchanon Park in Bowling Green.
The Bears "A" team entered this week with a 4-6 record before dropping a pair of close games to Apollo (3-2) and Daviess County (3-0). The BCMS will be hosting a round-robin tournament tomorrow - Saturday, September 10 - and will square off against Russellville (8:30 a.m.), St. Mary's (10:00 a.m.) and Hancock County (4 p.m.).
The BCMS "B" team wrapped up play this week at 4-6 and ended on a high note with a come-from-behind 9-8 win over Daviess County. The Bears trailed 7-0 and 8-1 early in the game before mounting an impressive rally. The "B" team Bears will return to action next week on Monday at Glasgow.
The 2016 Butler County Middle School softball team is comprised of a 22-players roster in grades ranging 6th through 8th.
8th grade players are #1 Aleace Hall, #2 Kaleigh Proctor, #14 Audrey Deweese, #7 Aliceson Hunt, #8 Jessilyn Embry, #11 Leslee Washer, #6 Andrea Deweese, #15 Conley Moore, #16 Aubrey Clark, #18 Autumn Proctor, #20 Autumn Searles, and #24 Olivia Austin.

7th grade players are #5 Carley Brown, #9 Gracie Cardwell, , #10 MaKinna Embry, #12 Kaylee Dockery, #13 Isabella Akers, and #22 Taylin Clark.

6th grade players are #15 Cheani Schroeder, #19 Taylor Raymer, #21 MacKenzie Coleman, and #25 Avery Gleason.
"We've had a good season so far and have shown steady improvement throughout the season," said Embry. "The girls have worked hard since July and it has paid off. Now, we must become more consistent and continue improving. We've got a busy schedule of games coming up this month as we move toward the state tournament," added Embry.

Also coaching the middle school team are Jack Clark and James White.
"Both Jack and James have done a tremendous job for our girls this season. Their commitment to our middle school program has clearly played a key role in our success as a team," said Embry. "I also want to thank softball parents for their support this season. Parental support of any athletic program is absolutely essential to that program's success and I appreciate all that our parents do."
