Butler County Relay For Life holds first Color Run

Runners and walkers of all ages returned from the 5k Run/Walk with newly created colorful splotches on their t-shirts. The Butler County Relay For Life held their first 5K Color Run/Walk Saturday.

The course started and ended at Morgantown Elementary, meandering through downtown Morgantown.

Molly Embry, organizer of the event, said despite threats of bad of weather, the event was a success with about 40 participants in the event, she said.

“I think it went really well, we ended up profiting about $400,” she said.

The Butler County Relay For Life plans to do another color run in the fall, potentially around September, Embry said.

Embry said the community has also been receptive to cause of Relay for Life, spreading awareness in hope of ending cancer.

“It’s been really great, relay for the past few years has declined a little bit,” Embry said,”But we’ve had quite a few people to be excited to come out and get more of the community involved. Once you get to talking to people about why we are doing what we are doing it’s something that everyone is touched by.”
