April is National Kite Flying Month

April is National Kite Flying Month. To celebrate, Aviation Heritage Park invites kids of all ages to come fly a kite in the park on Saturday, April 18.

AHP is partnering with Bowling Green PARENT magazine to host “Kite Day In the Park”. The family event will be in Aviation Heritage Park at 1825 Three Spring Road, April 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Kids are encouraged to bring Mom and Dad, some lawn chairs and of course, kites and join in a family fun outing.  The first 20 families will receive a free pocket kite.

“We are all about aviation, any type of flying,” Bob Pitchford, AHP president, said. “Kite flying is a fun way to get kids, and adults interested in flying. Who knows, a local boy or girl may become an astronaut one day”.

There will be food concessions available and music by Tim Livingston.

Aviation Heritage Park is dedicated to finding, restoring and displaying aviation artifacts with ties to aviators from southcentral Kentucky. Currently the park has five aircraft on display, all connected to area flyers and telling their stories. The park is open every day from 7:00 a.m. until dark. Admission is free. More information is available on the web at www.aviationheritagepark.com or Aviation Heritage Park’s Facebook page.
