Family and friends of Exie Ruth Hawes gathered at Morgantown Care and Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, December 23, to celebrate her upcoming 100th birthday. Exie was born on her family farm near Dunbar, Kentucky, on January 6, 1918, to Ustus and Gusta Kitchens.

Butler County Sheriff Scottie Ward and his deputies each paired up with children, nominated by agencies and schools, for a special Christmas treat. This year the deputies and Ward made home visits and delivered gifts selected for each of the individual children.

Dorene (Flener) Harrison and Loretta (Flener) Curtis - two of the nine children of Foy and Flora Flener born and raised in Butler County. Dorene, 84, still lives in Morgantown. Loretta, 81, lives in Louisville. The sisters enjoyed a recent visit and Santa made an early delivery of their Morga
