BCMS Co-Ed Cheer Squad Wins Grand Champion

On Saturday, January 14 the Butler County Middle School Cheer squad was in competition at Park City. They placed first in the Co-Ed division and went on the win the Grand Champion trophy beating: Munfordville, Barren Middle, Glasgow Middle, Gold Star Cheer, and McLean Co. High's stunt group.

This is the first time in middle school history we have had a Co-Ed Squad at BCMS.

Bears Eliminated from All "A" Classic by McLean Co. Cougars

The Butler County Bears returned to McLean County on Tuesday night to take on the McLean County High School Cougars. The game was the sixth contest played by the Bears on the McLean County floor this season. The Bears played three games in a holiday tournament in McLean County, played the Cougars at home on January 3rd, and played the first round of the All "A" Classic on the floor. The Bears were back in action in Calhoun on Tuesday in round 2 of the All "A" Classic.

Graham's 28 not enough as Lady Bears fall to McLean

The Butler County Lady Bears traveled back to McLean County High School on Monday night for the second round of the Touchstone Energy Partners All "A" Classic. After beating Edmonson County 50-48 on Saturday, the Lady Bears would be taking on the home town McLean County Lady Cougars who had the bye in round one.

Lady Bears advance in thrilling fashion; Bears win to advance in All A Tourney

McLean County High School played host to the opening round of the 2012 Touchstone Energy All ‘A’ Classic on Saturday. The Lady Bears and Bears of Butler County played the first two games in the tourney, taking on the teams from Edmonson County High School.

BCMS Boys: 7th Grade Picks Up Two Wins- 8th Grade Goes 1-1

With only three weeks left of regular season action for the boys’ middle school basketball team, they had the luxury of staying at home this week.  Both games on Monday and Tuesday were played on the Bears’ home floor.  On Monday night the Russellville Panthers came to town for a visit looking for a little hospitality but were sent home licking their wounds instead.  Both 7th and 8th grade teams came out on the attack taking early leads and just kept building on them.  In the 7th grade game, the Panthers were simply way outsized by the Bears starting five in Bailey Anderson, Blake Graham, R

Bears, Lady Bears to travel to McLean to play in KY Touchstone Energy All "A" Classic

The Bears and Lady Bears basketball teams will make the long trip to Calhoun, KY this Saturday where they will begin playing in the 3rd Region Kentucky Touchstone Energy All "A" Classic. The Lady Bears (2-11) will play 12th district foe Edmonson County (5-9) in the first game of the morning at 10:00 a.m. In their first meeting this season, the Lady Wildcats defeated the Lady Bears 46-25 at Edmonson County. The Bears (5-12), who will be making their fifth trip this season to McLean County, will also play the Wildcats of Edmonson County (5-10) immediately following the Lady Bears at 12 p.m.

Bears, Lady Bears Drop DH at Logan

The Bears and Lady Bears loaded on the buses and headed down Highway 79 on Tuesday night. The destination was Logan County High School for a doubleheader with the Cougars and Lady Cougars.

The Lady Bears were first in a game that saw both teams start slowly. The Logan ladies took the lead behind the play of Shannon MacAllister and Jaylin Jones. The pair combined for 8 points. The Lady Bears could muster just a single basket in the quarter, from Madeline Drake on put-back layup, and the Lady Cougars took a 9-3 lead after one.

Lady Bears & Bears Fall to Grayson

The Butler County Bears and Lady Bears were at home friday night and their opponents were the high-powered Cougars and Lady Cougars from Grayson County High School. GCHS is a district rival for Butler County and entered the game as the favorites to win the 12th District.

First up was the matchup between the Lady Bears and the Lady Cougars. GCHS came into the game with a 13-3 record including a 3-0 mark in district play. The Lady Bears entered play Friday night with a 2-9 record and a 1-2 record in the 12th District.

B.C.H.S. Cheerleaders Headed to State

The Butler County High School Cheerleaders competed at the 3rd Region Kapos Cheerleading Competition on Saturday, January 7. The competition took place at Owensboro High School, and featured schools from around the 3rd Region. BCHS competed in the large varsity division, where squads must have 17-20 cheerleaders. There are seven divisions at Kapos competitions, and squads are divided depending on how many cheerleaders are on the team, if the squad is co-ed, and which type of routine they want to perform.
