BCMS Cheerleaders take 1st at Snowball Competition

The BCMS Cheerleaders were in competition again Saturday, January 21 at Bowling Green High School. The squad took first place in the Large Division beating Grayson Middle, Warren East Middle, and Monroe Middle School.

Head Cheer Coach Amy Smith-Thomas said, "My cheerleaders have practiced many hours and have put forth so much dedication this season. I owe so much to the support and help that my cheer parents and my administrators give these girls every day."

BCMS Boys Wrap Up Regular Season Play

 Lots of basketball......that is how you might describe the final week of regular season for the Butler County Middle School boys team.  They packed in three nights of basketball action this week before heading to the GRVC tournament on Saturday.  They started the week at home with a game against Bowling Green Homeschool on Monday night.  Both 7th and 8th grade teams had no trouble coming up with wins.  The Trailblazers gave it all they had but it just wasn't enough to handle this Bears team.  The 7th grade won with a score of 49 - 14.  Blake Graham was the high scorer in this game with 14

Lady Bears Fall to Ohio County

Madeline "Mad Dog" Drake

The Ohio County Lady Eagles rolled into Morgantown on Thursday night to take on the BCHS Lady Bears. The 11-9 Lady Eagles and Coach Ted Hill were hoping make it a sweep of BCHS teams by OCHS this week after Tuesday night’s Eagles win over the Bears 66-49.

Bears Defeat Cumberland Co. 70-54

 

The Butler County High School Bears were at home for a rare ‘twilight’ start on Saturday afternoon. Their opponents, the Cumberland County Panthers, had traveled nearly three hours for the matchup with the Bears.

Tempers Flare As Bears Fall to Eagles

The Butler County Bears took a short trip up Highway 231 Tuesday night to take on former district rival Ohio County. The two bitter rivals have renewed their basketball series in recent years after a hiatus caused by bad blood between the two schools and unsportsmanlike conduct during and after games.

8th Grade Night for BCMS

Thursday , January 19th, the Butler County Middle School gym was packed.  Why……to celebrate the ending of an era for several middle school athletes.  For several students their middle school careers are about to become their high school careers.  Both girls and boys 8th grade basketball players as well as 8th grade cheerleaders were honored and recognized.  The boys basketball team is proud to have nine 8th graders on their squad.  They are as follows:

Lady Bears fall to Daviess Co.

The Lady Bears traveled to Owensboro on Monday night for a date with the Panthers of Daviess County High School. The Lady Panthers came into the game with a 13-8 record, led by Sarah Martin, one of the best players in the 3rd region.

BCMS Boys Pick Up Wins

As the regular season of boys middle school basketball comes to a close in a week, the boys team found themselves in their white, home uniforms for the second week in a row.  Although the Bears are preparing for conference tournament play next weekend, they squared off with two non-conference teams this week.  Even though these games didn’t have any conference seeding implications they were important games for  the Bears none the less.  On Monday the Bears came up against a much talked about opponent in the South Warren Spartans, and Tuesday night was 8th Grade Night so the Bears were hungr
