Lady Bears outlast McLean County in triple overtime

MORGANTOWN — Determined Butler County outlasted McLean County 73-66 in triple overtime on Thursday, Feb. 15.

Butler County battled back from behind to register the win on Senior Night.

McLean County outscored Butler County 12-9 in the opening quarter. 

Extending its lead out to a double-digit advantage, Butler County led 24-10 at halftime.

But Butler County fared better throughout the second half. 

McLean County led 34-27 at the conclusion of the third quarter.

Pulling even, Butler County outscored McLean County 19-12 in the fourth quarter to tie the game 46-46 and send the matchup into overtime.

Butler County and McClean County were tied 54-54 at the end of the first overtime. 

Following the second overtime, a low-scoring extra period, Butler County and McLean County were tied 60-60.

Butler County used a 13-6 scoring advantage in the third overtime to claim the victory. 

Four players reached double figures in Butler County’s scoring column.

Ava Wilson scored 20 points to lead Butler County to the win. 

Accompanying Wilson in double figures for Butler County, Annie Marie Skaggs scored 15 points, Bailey Moore netted 14 points and Taylor Leach added 11 points. 

Chipping in offensively, Parker Willoughby (six points), Karrington Hunt (four points) and Addison Miller (one point) provided Butler County’s additional scoring.
