Beech Tree News presents: "Bears Spotlight" Clayton Deweese

Clayton is a 6’0” guard for the 12th district championship and 3rd region championship basketball team. He is a junior at BCHS and the son of Darrell and Amy Deweese. The Deweese family resides in the Leonard Oak community of Butler County.

Clayton began playing basketball in the Butler County Junior Pro league in second grade. In middle school, he was a part of the 6th, 7th and 8th grade GRVC championship team and was a part of an undefeated season his 8th grade season. In the offseason, he plays AAU basketball for Kentucky Supreme.

Clayton ran cross country his sophomore year at BCHS and will be playing varsity baseball for the Bears this season.

Clayton’s dad, Darrell, played basketball for Butler County his freshman year (1976-77), but when the gym burned down, he had no way back and forth to out of county practices.

Clayton is known as the sixth man for the 2023-24 team, and works hard to better himself and his teammates. He usually guards Ty at practice and comes in off the bench at games to contribute vital minutes for the Bears.

Clayton enjoys fishing, shooting trap, and riding dirt bikes. He plans to work as a lifeguard at the Morgantown City Pool during the summer.

Congratulations on being a region champion and good luck at the KHSAA Sweet Sixteen, Clayton!
