Butler County High School FCCLA Makes Autism Bracelets

Eighteen FCCLA members met after school on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 to begin making “Beading to Beat Autism” bracelets. This project was started by 14 year old Michala Riggle. Her mission is to raise $300,000.00 to build a world-class autism research and treatment center. Michala and her “peeps” have already reached and gone above and beyond the initial goal of raising $200,000 for an autism study at Kosair Children’s Hospital.

Hogwarts Goes to NBES and MES

The magic of chemistry came to life with the help of Mrs. Jennifer Davis’ Chemistry 105/106 Dual credit class at MES and NBES today. Students demonstrated the effects of combining various elements to create everything from orange foam to orange dancing flames. Mrs. Davis’ class consist of Juniors who are working on a college level in Chemistry to earn college hours as well as credits from Butler County High School.

Geography Bee at BCMS

After classroom rounds and two semifinal rounds, 10 finalists and an alternate have advanced to the Geography Bee School-wide Championship! The public is invited to attend this elite competition which will also be a school-wide assembly in the Butler County Middle School gymnasium at 8:30 AM on Tuesday, December 20.

Rep. Brad Montell prefiles bill to allow charter schools in Kentucky

BR 117 would provide communities the opportunity to open a charter school

FRANKFORT, Ky. (November 16, 2011) – Rep. Brad Montell, R-Shelbyville (58th District) announced today he is prefiling legislation that if passed would establish a charter schools initiative in Kentucky.  The proposal would allow communities across the Bluegrass State the opportunity to open a charter school for the benefit of students, parents, teachers and the community as a whole.

NBES Library Mural

North Butler Elementary students recently completed a mural in the school library.  The fifth grade students worked under the direction of Jesse Simmons.  The project was funded by a Kentucky Arts Council grant.  This is the third grant project for the school.  The other two murals are located in the main hall of the school.
