Andy Sullivan: Against the Grain

A month or so ago, I started a two-parter on television theme songs.  This week, we’ll finally get around to the second part.  This week: the A-Team.  The A-Team debuted in January 1983 and ran for five seasons(98 episodes) on NBC.  The series was created by Stephen J, Cannell(who wo

Jarrod Jacobs: The Making of Many Books

Long ago, Solomon said, “And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh” (Ecc. 12:12). Solomon’s words ring true today. When we think of all the books in existence, the sheer volume is staggering! If we could calculate all books that have ever been written, surely it would be an amazingly high number. The above title was on a magazine cover I saw once. As I read that title, I could not help but stand amazed at the extent to which our society has become enamored with self. Is it not amazing that someone could find “759 ways” to improve one’s physical life, and in all of this, could not see that there is but one thing that will make the most significant improvement? The most tremendous improvement for a person is the salvation of one’s soul from sin! Yes, the soul of man needs help rather than the body, for this is the part of man that endures! The apostle Paul wrote, “...

Many families are beginning to think about the next school year. As a former teacher, a mom, and a grandmother, most years of my life have included back-to-school activities. Each family’s back-to-school preparation may look different, but usually these activities are simple things. Even so, making good memories with children is an important part of their school success.
