Shirley Hubbard

Shirley “Nanny” Jeanne Hubbard, 68, of Butler County, died at 1:41 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011, at The Medical Center.

The Anna native was born Sept. 26, 1942. She was surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren when she entered Heaven to be with her Jesus. She was retired from Union Underwear and the Warren County Board of Education, having worked at Moss Middle School. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Bowling Green. She was a daughter of the late Henry Brown Cline and Buelah Miller Cline of Bowling Green, who survives.


Terry Michael Friel

Terry Michael Friel, 71, of Morgantown passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at his residence.  He was a home designer, bulider, and architect.

The Illinois native was the son of the late Edwin W. Friel and Hazel J. McCartney Friel who survives.

Funeral Service: Will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Ryan M. Himes officiating. Burial will be in the Little Muddy Cemetery.


Sue Kathryn Green Scarbrough

Mrs. Scarbrough died Sunday, August 21, 2011, in Oklahoma City with family by her side. She was born March 6, 1937, in Rochester, Kentucky to Alma and Jack Green and raised as the seventh child of ten – five brothers and five sisters.

She graduated from Butler County High School where she played the drums in the first Butler County High School Band, and was also a cheerleader, a majorette, and Miss Butler County.


James LeGrand

James Clark LeGrand,  80, of Roundhill, Kentucky, died at his residence on Sunday, August 21, 2011.

The Butler County native was the son of the late Harrison and Carrie LeGrand and husband of the late Eunice Louise LeGrand.   He installed gas pumps and septic tanks, was of the Baptist faith, and had a love for his cats.

Funeral Service: 2 pm Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Smith Funeral Home with Chaplin Bobby Ward officiating.  Burial will be in the Youngtown Cemetery.


Lonnie Robbins

Lonnie D. Robbins, 69 of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 15, 2011, at 11:57 AM at his residence. He was an Ashland, Kentucky, native son of the late James and Louise Nelson Robbins.

Lonnie was a retired diesel mechanic and was of the Church of Christ Faith. He was preceded in death by one brother Jack Robbins and two sisters Dolly Jane Robbins and Debbie Thompson.


J.C. Embry

J.C. Embry, age 78, of Caneyville, KY passed away Sunday,  August 14, 2011, at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. He was born on October 6,1932, in Grayson Co., the son of Roosevelt and Edna Woosley Embry. He was owner and operator of Embry’s Upholstery.


Margaret Leach Smith

Margaret Leach Smith, 91 of Bowling Green, Kentucky, formerly of Morgantown, passed away at 1:14am Sunday, August 14, 2011, at a local nursing home.

She was a Butler County native born May 14, 1920, to the late Ira W. and Cesena Turner Leach.


Randall Hawkins

Randall L. Hawkins age 63 of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green Ky.

He was the son of the late Elbridge Lee and Loda Pearl Childers Hawkins, a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, a United States Army Veteran, serving in Vietnam from 1968 till 1970, and a Dozer operator.


Joe Lindsey

Joe E. “Waterbucket” Lindsey, 68 of Morgantown, Kentucky,  passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky. He was a Butler County native, son of the late William Lindsey and Mable Proctor Brock. He was a former member of the Butler County Rescue Squad.


Erna Dockery

Erna R. Dockery Gary, 77 passed away Monday, August 8, 2011.  She was the daughter of the late Pirtle Dockery and Minnie Embry Dockery and wife of the late William O. Gary. She was a member of Peniel Missionary Baptist Church.

Erna R. Dockery Gary is survived by her sons Thomas H. Gary and wife Dora and Dr. James E. Gary and wife Janet; 2 grandchildren Eric Gary and wife Carrie and Faith Thornsberry and husband Jason; 5 great grandchildren Jayden, Katlyn, Nolan, Landon and Brinleigh and one sister Courtney Smith.
