Arrah Wanna Evans 100th Birthday Celebration

Happy 100th birthday Mrs. Arrah Wanna Evans
 Much like a humble herald of better things to come, Arrah Wanna Evans was born to PC and Annie Pendley on November 12, 1918, the day after the war to end all wars ended. On November 12, 2018, Wanna celebrated her 100th birthday at Morgantown Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Tucked away in the small engine shop at Drake’s Farm Service is a superhero of sorts, his name is Major Deweese, and his power is the ability to spark imaginations.  By day he works repairing small engines but in his free time, he reads.

Homemaker of the Year: Linda J. Hawkins

On November 12, 2018, the Butler County Area Homemakers Council announced that Linda J Hawkins as the homemaker of the year. Linda has done an outstanding job with the Butler County Homemakers and it was said that she has assisted the homemakers on the area, local and international levels, gives of herself unconditionally and expects nothing in return. Linda is always willing to assist with any homemaker event and has donated several of her publications for fundraisers with the proceeds going to the Ovarian Cancer Research.

Green River Chapter NSDAR honors veterans

Green River NSDAR Regent Melanie Hunt with Veterans of the Year Lee and Christine Loomis Clark and family.

  The ladies of the Green River chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution held their annual Veterans Day reception celebration on Saturday, November 10, at Morgantown Elementary immediately after the annual Morgantown Veterans Day Parade. The event has been part of DAR history since 2006 when it was first organized by Christine Coleman to honor and remember veterans of military service.

Butler County Chapter NSDAR Veterans' Breakfast

The Butler County Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution held their annual Veterans Breakfast on Saturday, November 10th at the Butler County High School Commons Area.  Chapter Regent Jane K. Smith welcomed everyone.  Several veterans representing the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines were present.  Flag chair Lynda O'Driscoll led the pledge to the flag, followed by the opening prayer by Chapter Chaplain, Peggy Drake.

Reedyville First Annual Hunter's Fundraiser

Members of the Reedyville Rural Development Community Center were busy as beavers on Saturday, November 10, hosting their first annual two day Hunter’s Breakfast and Lunch  Fundraiser. “This was our maiden voyage,” said Mary Basham about the inaugural event that featured home cooking by some of the best cooks in the area.

The 28th Annual Calendar Girl and 16th Annual Centerfold Guy Contest was held on Saturday night at the Butler County High School Gym.  Brooklynn Henderson is the 2019 Cover Girl.  She is the daughter of Cheryl Henders

Displaying Butler Country Pride does not end when you graduate. Megan Costello, a 2018 graduate, located a bear image, converted the file into a program for the computerized router and engraved the work of art shown in the image below. This will be proudly displayed in the business classroom at the Butler County Area Technology Center. THANK YOU Megan.

Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary Post 5837

VFW post and auxiliary post 5837 salute Robert “Doc” Daughtery as the commander of the of the department of Kentucky and is also a resident of Butler County.

Doc was born in March 1947 in Springfield, Illinois, graduated high school Morrisonville, Illinois and retired from Bridgestone/Firestone Tire.
