Stockman’s Association Annual Meeting – March 28, 2019

The annual meeting of the Butler County Stockman’s Association will be Thursday, March 28th at 6:00 p.m. at the Butler County Extension Office.  There will be a sponsored meal, educational presentations, and a short business meeting.

Commissioner Quarles Presents Struttin' Rooster Farm Grant at North Butler

Coming near the end of National Agriculture Week, A special presentation was given by Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Ryan Quarles on Friday March 15 at North Butler Elementary. Quarles announced that Struttin’ Rooster Farm in Butler county was one of only 10 Farms selected statewide to receive the Producer Engagement Grant in the amount of $7,000. This grant is to facilitate local farmers growing foods for consumption by the school system.

“Start Your Engines with School Breakfast”

Last week, Butler County Schools celebrated National School Breakfast Week. The #NSBW19 theme was “Start Your Engines with School Breakfast,” which is designed to show parents, students, and school officials the benefits of fueling up for the day with a healthy school breakfast.

Each school featured a special breakfast menu that showcased new items and favorite breakfast foods. The unique menus included waffle bars and bacon, chocolate crescents, french toast, breakfast tacos and biscuits with country gravy.

Miss Kentucky Visits Butler County Schools

Miss Kentucky Katie Bouchard

On Thursday, March 14 North Butler Elementary Students were treated to a special presentation by Miss Kentucky, Katie Bouchard. She is an Owensboro native and a graduate of Western Kentucky University. Miss Bouchard was named Miss Kentucky this past June and one of her many roles include speaking to the school aged children about the importance of setting goals and making healthy choices in life.

4-H Shooting Sports Informational Meeting

The Butler County Cooperative Extension Service will be holding an informational meeting about the Shooting Sports club, on March 21, 2019 at 6 pm at the Butler County Cooperative Extension Building. The new building is located at 102 Parkway Lane, Morgantown, KY 42261. Anyone 4th grade or older of school age is invited to attend to learn more about Shooting Sports. We look forward to seeing you at the meeting!

NBES & BCHS Art Classes Work Together to Create Monsters

Nora Lindsey (Kindergarten) with Camryn Newland (11th grade)

Another successful art collaboration with NBES and BCHS students.  Kindergarten students from Ms. Cindy Embry, Ms. Mona Daugherty, and Mrs. Michelle Fields classes made monster drawings in their art class with Mrs. Kassie Decker.  Mrs. Catron Burdette's art students from BCHS re-created the drawings in the form of dolls to present to the kindergarten students at their Art Show at NBES on March 7, 2019.
