Butler County Farm Field Day was held Thursday, September 5, at the farm of Richard and Jennifer Tucker.  

Everyone was an artist at the fourth annual Chalk Art and Craft Festival. West Ohio Street was closed off for children and community members to gather and create artwork of their choice. The event was sponsored by the Butler County Arts Guild and in conjunction with the Morgantown–Butler County Tourism Commission and Butler County Public Library. Cash prizes were given for winners of the chalk art contest and cash prize drawings were sponsored by Double E Vending.

A new school year can bring new challenges and struggles for young people. Add on top of that changing bodies and hormones, and it can be a particularly challenging time for teenagers. As parents, we often wonder if our child’s behavior changes are typical or if they are something more that could be cause for concern. It’s important for us to familiarize ourselves with the signs and symptoms of depression so we can help our children live happier and healthier lives.

Fall is a beautiful time in Kentucky gardens, but it can also be a messy time. Tree leaves turn from green to vibrant fall colors and then drop, creating big piles. Then there are the leaves and spent shoots from our flower beds.

The way we address our yard waste can have a significant impact on our gardens and on the environment. Gardeners commonly rake up and bag leaves to haul away to yard waste dumps.

Dennis Robins, an educator at Butler County High School in Morgantown, KY, was recently selected as a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction by The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS). A role model to pupils, Dennis was nominated by a student for outstanding dedication and commitment to excellence in the profession. 

            “I can’t keep them alive,” is the phrase I have heard most since beginning my succulent business.  Each time I hear this statement, I look at them in astonishment because succulents should be the hardest plants to kill…this is what has always fascinated me about them.  The following will explain in detail how to care for these unique plants so that you can enjoy them for years to come. 

            Firehouse Pizza has been a consistent staple in the community of Morgantown for several years now.  Throughout the years, owners Eric and his wife Tosha, have worked to continuously improve the atmosphere of their eatery by expanding their menu, completely redesigning the interior of their eatery, installing a full ice cream bar, and now they offer live entertainment.

Andy could have spent an hour talking about his body of work over his long career and the famous actors he has worked with, but he did not.

Right brain, creative artist Andy sat alone on the stage, his only prop was the chair he was sitting in, no bright lights, no makeup, and no movie cameras, just Andy and his glad to be "captive audience."

Can they?... They Can!  But they need your help, the Morgantown, KY Line Dancers are selling purple paper flowers to raise money to fight Alzheimer’s. Their goal is to sell enough purple paper flowers to go around the dance hall at the Butler County Continuing Ed Center! Please help them reach their goal. Purple paper flowers are $1.00 each, and for any $5.00 donation, your name will be added to a drawing for a 50” TV & other great prizes which will be raffled on Friday, August 30th at the dance. Join them for a fun evening of dancing (music by the Troubadours).
