This past week Annis Farms lost a significant amount of hay due to two separate fires. The first hay fire last week claimed several bales of hay on their farm off Big D Road. They then lost 12-15 bales of hay on their farm in Logansport.

A Sunday morning wreck landed two men Denny Alonzo, 33 and Ernesto Ramirez, 26, of Morgantown, in Butler County Jail. The vehicle left the road around 8:30am at the top of Flat Rock Hill along Rochester Road, traveled down the embankment and rolled over onto its top.

The William Natcher Parkway was shut down on Saturday evening as fire fighters battled a truck fire. The trailer caught fire between Exit 28 and Exit 29 at approximately 7:15 pm. The tractor trailer, owned by U.S. Express, was hauling laundry detergent from Chattanooga, Tennessee to Illinois.

The Butler County Grand Jury returned indictments against 18 individuals. Charges included theft, burglary, assault, unlawful transaction with a minor, and drugs.

A large crowd saw a sometimes testy meeting of the Morgantown City Council on Thursday night. The contention was on the possible elimination on the Morgantown Police Department, next fiscal year’s budget, and the level of community support for the Catfish Festival and the Chamber of Commerce.
