BC Stockman's Field Day

Date:
Saturday, September 30, 2017 - 4:00pm

The Butler County Stockman’s Association invite you to their annual fall field day on September 30, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at the Heritage Farm operated by the Cohron Family.  The Heritage Farm is located in the Sharer community.  The program will include:  discussion of the upcoming 2018 Stockman’s Livestock Sale, a demonstration of a hoop feeding barn, using a bale wrapper, and a demonstration of alfalfa and orchard grass fields.  We will also stop at a field where two forage cuttings were made this spring before group 2 soybeans were planted for grain.  The beans yielded 67 bushels per acre and the round bale silage is on site so you can see what can be accomplished with intensive management.  UK Extension Forage Specialist, Dr. Chris Teutsch, will be speaking at the field day.  Dr. Teutsch has done a lot of work on maximizing forage utilization and getting the most production possible from the acres on a farm.  There will be a meal provided at the end of the program.  There is no cost to attend.  The Stockman’s Association invites all livestock producers to attend this informative program.
