Wilma Givens

Wilma Givens, 87, of Huntsville, Kentucky, passed away at the Medical Center  on Sunday, August 28, 2011.

The Butler County native was the son of the late Hershell E. and Florida Anderson Givens. He was a steelmill worker and ferryman at Rochester, Kentucky for 30 years.  He was a member of the Rochester Missionary Baptist Church, a Kentucky Colonel, a WWII Army Veteran with a Bronze Star and he loved fishing.

Funeral Service:  1 pm Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Todd Phelps and Bro. Roger Heltsley officiating.  Burial will be in the Union Cemetery.

Visitation :  4pm -8:30 pm Tuesday, August 30, 2011 and from 8am until funeral on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Smith Funeral Home.

Survivors include:

Wife of 64 years: Myrtle Peay Givens of Huntsville

Daughter: Donna Charlene Ferrell of Huntsville

Son: Timothy Lynn Givens and wife Cindy of Owensboro

Son-in-law: Sammie Ferrell of Huntsville

4 Grandsons: Brian Ferrell and wife Teresa of Dunmore, Josh Givens and wife Kelly of Owensboro, Grant Givens serving in Okinawa, and Nick Tomes of Owensboro

1 Granddaughter: Brittany Deweese and husband Denny of Morgantown

6 Great Grandchildren: Catherine and Trever Deweese of Morgantown, Harley Givens of Owensboro, Elijah, Kimberlea, and Taylor Ferrell of Dunmor

Preceded in death by : son Willie Ray Givens and grandson Bradley Ferrell
