Tough stretch for Bears with string of losses
Teams typically go through tough stretches. It seems that time is now for Butler County as the Bears dropped games last week to Nelson County (65-58), Madisonville-North Hopkins (91-71), Daviess County (71-65), and Ohio County (55-40). Butler County (2-5) will be hoping to rebound this coming week as play begins in the 2016 BtN/WLBQ Christmas Classic.
On December 6, the Bears dropped a 65-58 decision at Nelson County. A tight game at the half, Nelson County used an 18-10 third quarter scoring advantage to secure the win.

The Bears had three players in double figures - Rex Henderson leading the way with 22 points, Baylee Anderson with 15 points, and Will Moore with 14 points.
Butler County, as a team, hit 22 two-point field goals, three 3-point goals, and were 7 for 13 from the free throw line.

The Bears ran into a basketball powerhouse on December 9 in Madisonville-North Hopkins, falling 91-71. Butler County trailed early, 26-16 after the first quarter and trailed by 12 points at the half. The Bears narrowed that deficit to ten after three quarters but slipped in the final quarter, losing it 25-15.
Once again, the Bears had three players in double digits in scoring - Baylee Anderson had 19 points, Rex Henderson pitched in 16 points, and guard Brennan Grubb added 11 points.
Butler County had 19 two-point field goals, eight 3-point goals, and were 9 for 20 from the free throw line.

The Bears turned their attention to Third Region foe Daviess County on December 13. It was a close game throughout and Butler took a 42-40 lead into the final quarter before falling 71-65 to the Panthers.
Will Moore and Baylee Anderson had 16 points apiece and Rex Henderson added 14 points in the loss.
The Bears were 6 for 6 from the free throw line, hit 19 two-point goals, and seven three pointers.

Butler County travled the short distance to Ohio County on Friday, December 16, and ended up on the short end of a 55-40 score. Trailing 25-20 at the half, the third quarter proved to be the decisive one with the Eagles outscoring the Bears 17-8.
Caleb Beasley led the Bears in scoring with 10 points - the only Butler County player in double figures.
