Tiffany Hampton: Life in Logansport

I have come to the conclusion that there must be a medical condition which takes place while a man watches TV. That is unless I am the only wife in the world who has a husband that loses all his hearing ability when sitting in front of the TV. I'm thinking that it's a safe bet that I'm not alone on this one!

It really is amazing to watch this happen right in front of me. It's like if his eyes make contact with the television, then he's gone . . . gone into a trance that disables 100% of his hearing. Now that we have been married several years, I've realized that I can't have any kind of conversation with my husband when he's in "the trance." On the other hand, it may be a good time to tell him something that he may normally jump through the roof about! Like how much money I spent shopping!

It doesn't only occur with grown men, I see the same behavior in my 9 and 3 year old. I suppose this is why they say that women are multi-taskers and men are not. A woman is likely to be watching a show, helping with homework, have supper going and sending a text message all at the same time! I'm writing all this in good humor, and not just pickin' on the guys. I love my husband and this scenario was taking place as I was beginning my article . . . so I thought it would give us all a good laugh. As for the medical term for this condition, I don't have one. As for the solution . . . I don't have that either.
