September is National Literacy Month

In recognition of how literacy empowers and liberates people, recently, a proclamation was signed by  community leaders declaring September as National Literacy Month. The public can expect to see various literacy related projects and activities taking place in the schools, at the Butler County Public Library, with the Three Rivers Literacy Chapter of the Kentucky Reading Association and with the Butler County and Green River Chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Beyond literacy’s importance as part of the right to education, literacy also improves lives by expanding capabilities which in turn reduces poverty, increases participation in the labor market and has positive effects on health and sustainable development. Make a difference in our community by advocating for literacy participation and improvement.
